Presentation #4 Instructions

Presentation #4 – “Classic”

There are TWO due dates for these presentations depending on your group. All of these will be in person.

For this presentation, you have been assigned a book below that you will present to us. You will introduce it to us, explain why it may have been a classic, and if you would still give it to kids today. Tell us a bit about the author and their writing style. This should be about 2 minutes of an introduction.

You will then read an excerpt that is approximately two minutes from somewhere other than the beginning of the book. Think hard about your excerpt choice. Your goal is to capture the essence of the book in a short contained moment. This is not necessarily the first chapter; in fact, it rarely is.

The original date of publication is listed with your book title. You do not necessarily have to use the book as published that specific year, but I want you all to get a sense of the history of when these books appeared. Books before 1925 are available in the public domain, often at Project Gutenberg. Other books may be available in e-texts. Check early as I can provide a book to you with advance notice.

All of these presentations will be in person. If an issue arises and you need to record a video, please speak to me.
